Crown Thinning improves sunlight infiltration and air flow, which is particularly important in overgrown trees.

Stumps - grind or remove

Tree stumps might be somewhat of a novelty at first, however, the longer they remain in your yard, the more they become a nuisance.

Tree stumps are unsightly, hazardous obstacles that attract weeds growing around their edges and termites chewing on their decaying timber. Whether it's for aesthetic, safety or practical reasons, sooner or later the stump should be removed.

Australian hardwood tree stumps take over 20 years to decompose or be eaten by termites. Unless you are an extremely patient person, there's two options remaining - dig the stump out with large machinery or grind it down below ground level with a stump grinder.

Stump Removal involves the expensive hire of a large excavator to dig out the root ball and roots. This is a very intrusive exercise that will require disposing of the roots and rootball along with extensive restoration work on the grounds.

Stump Grinder "shaves" the height of the stump to below ground level. This is cheaper and less intensive than removal, with minimal damage to the surrounding yard. Over time, the remaining portion of the stump below ground will decompose, along with the roots. The ground will sinK in parts, and require annual top dressing for many years.
