Tree Removal Permits

The regulations and rules relating to Tree Removal vary from Council to Council. Permits may be required, with fines ranging from $2,000 to $50,000 applicable to the illegal removal of trees.

Tree Trimming and Removal can be undertaken on the Gold Coast without Council approval under certain conditions relating to whether the tree is classified as a pest, whether the tree is a fire hazard, distance from buildings & dwellings, and the distance of the tree from pool and boundary fences. Generally, large Australian native hardwood trees such as Eucalypts have a relatively high removal cost, as they have a large number of branches,;and feature timber that's heavier, more labour intensive, and difficult to process.
